    THANK YOUU!!! Really, from the bottom form my heart. As a new OH this absolutely will help me, not only on a technical level but also mentally. Personally, all positions NEED one thing in common which I think is worth mentioning...CONFIDENCE above all. This video + having confidence will help me improve significantly. Thank you again Coach!!! 🙌

    Another huge problem is also the lack of international practise that the teams can get. Australia is sooo isolated from everywhere and it makes it so hard for the national team to get proper practise.

    So if you were a coach and you would want to gather some information from the first set, would you use a notebook to keep track of serves, setting and spiking? Or what would you do as a coach to help your team? In terms of using the opponents tendencies.

    Keen to learn more about statting, and how you have adjusted your team to react to that. Are you changing rotation to put libero somewhere else, just telling people to be closer or further, changing blocks to block the line, or force them down the line more to get them to your best passer?

    Hi Coach, thanks for the informational vid! I had two points I had a slightly different view on, which I wanted to share for a bit :) 1. Concerning the length advantage on MB: As a male 190 cm (6'3 for my imperial friends) middle blocker, when the pass/serve-receive is perfect, you mentioned that a middle still has the option to jump up a bit with the other middle and then still join the outside block. Personally, I've found that not fully committing to blocking the opposing MB is almost the same as presenting no block. So a small hop, wouldnt pose that much of a challenge. However, I must agree that I have more leeway than shorter plays to hope and jump again towards outside, but I just don't feel like semi-blocking on middle and closing the block on outside is something that can be done consistently. 2. In the Netherlands, the name middle blocker is also often used, which for me suggests that you are more of a defensive specialist, putting pressure on the opposing hitters. However, if you start running only quick balls on the middle (which starts at a relatively low level here I'd say), you tend to receive the least balls on offense out of the middles, outsides and opposites. Although the scoring percentage should be the highest, I would not consider it an offensive specialist. Guess it depends though on if you see blocking as a defensive or offensive act. Either way, thanks for the vid! Love how clear you are able to explain these concepts so they are nice and easy to understand for various levels!

    I remember that Australia used to be like league B of these international competitions, I used to see you guys around the tournaments, now - not so much. I think the ranking system change didn't help you as well... It's also funny as you have one of the best liberos in the world. Luke Perry is a big thing here in Poland, I think he was picked as the best libero of the 2022/23 season and top 2 this season, he also won silver in the championships. We're talking about the best league in the world right now (Italians will argue 😉) but yeah, it's sad hearing all these things. This is a very particular sport, it's not widely accessible eg physical attributes, facilities, what's also observed is that our volleyball players are really intelligent, often have higher education, they're well spoken even at a very young age - so I understand why it's not a world-wide sport, but as a volleyball lover, it would be so much fun if more countries got into it

    It is really exciting to see the young women in the Women's Volleyroos. The next generation is currently getting high-level experience in US/Canada/Europe. Over the next 4 years that will grow our skill exponentially. The average age of our current team is 21. I bet that's the youngest in the world.

    Way too many gate keepers. A lot of the coaches for kids are just people who put their hands up to do it, even at the representative level, and personal politics means there isn't much liking for constructive criticism. Beach pairs don't really allow lazy gatekeepers to stand around feeling important. It is purely merit based. So many coaches don't focus on technique and are not great at problem solving team coordination. They think that the answer is to invent a different and irrelevant drill each session.

    • @avanillasodapopslice
      @avanillasodapopslice 16 днів тому

      my couches suck unfortunately, its not their fault but they are all old men who played a little bit of volleyball when they were young and have an extremely outdated way of playing. they never teach us about the actual strategy of the game. just drills and drills. its the only volleyball where i live and i live in regional victoria so volleyball opportunities are bare bones. it sucks because i had dreams to get to a high level but it is impossible
